Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

Millennials - Born between 1977 and 2000, these children of the baby boomers number 83 million, dwarfing the Gen Xers and larger even than the baby boomer segment. This group includes several age cohorts: tweens (aged 9–12), teens (13–18), and young adults (19–32). With total purchasing power of more than $733 billion, the Millennials make up a huge and attractive market. As a millennial I would say that the description given to us is justified. Thought I can’t say that I was brought on the Internet. I can however say that I do have a pretty good handle on where to go on the Internet for what I need to know. The age group in fit into for the millennials is the young adults (19-32). Growing up I can remember when I was first introduced to computers. I was in fifth grade and we had keyboarding class. In class of course we were being trained so to speak on how to actually use computers and how to type. The first game I played on computers was a game called “Oregon Trails”. Going further in life I can recall that my first actual computer was a gateway desktop. Even though I’d worked on computers before I was still a bit shaky on what I’d use it for other than games. Then I was told about the Internet. Back then AOL was the craze. If you didn’t have an AOL account you weren’t in the know. Come to think about it now if you don’t have a Facebook page, Twitter account, or some sort of social media forum to communicate on, you’re not in the know. So to me it’s all still the same. Either way being a millennial puts me in a good place and I like it.

Week 3 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

Technology is more so the way of the world right now. There are so many things that we as a society use to pass the time. But the mainstays in technology today that have not only kids but adults going crazy are the game systems that have come out. We have Playstation, Wii, and Xbox360. All of which have their own special things about them that draw consumers to them. While price isn’t something that each can say is a strong hold, they have adjusted them to kind of meet the consumers needs. Analysts expect Sony to cut the price on its PS3 by about $100 this year, leading to price cuts by Microsoft on some of its Xbox 360 models. The PS3 starts at about $400, compared with the equivalent Xbox 360, which costs about $300. Though Nintendo has said it won't cut prices on its $250 Wii this year, it is expected to do so indirectly by bundling games with the console. When you think of video games you think of companies that make millions of dollars with certain games. One game that I know for certain has avid followers is “Madden”. Another game that has avid followers is “Grand Theft Auto”. While the videogame industry had hopes of posting double-digit revenue growth this year, analysts nowpredict flat to 5% growth from $11 billion in 2008. Jesse Divnich, an analyst for Carlsbad, Calif., research firm Electronic Entertainment Design and Research, said he will "be happy if the industry grows." Of all of the games I would put Playstation, Xbox360, and Wii in the cash cow category. I’d do that because of how many “gamers” there are nationwide. Many videogame executives say they remain positive about the industry, pointing to coming releases of big titles. Nintendo is launching "Wii Sports Resort."

EOC 1: My Voice

As an Audio Production professional I have a vast array of knowledge in audio, as well as, video. My background in music is what ultimately pushed me towards wanting to be an Audio professional. As a professional in this field I feel that it is key for the world to experience better audio than what is given now. Everyday we have some sort of audio going on. Within that there are frequencies, peaks, and clips that distort the audio that most people may not know about. That’s where I come in. I’ve been trained to be able to distinguish good and bad audio. There are so many fields within Audio Production that one can go into. But when you have knowledge in all of the fields, it for a better overall experience when it comes to having a conversation or trying to help others with problems in the field. With that being said I strive everyday to provide excellence in Audio. Before becoming an Audio Professional I served in the Air Force. In the Air Force I learned more about management and teamwork. The phrase “you’re only as strong as your weakest link” really is a testament to why I dedicate my all in everything I do. Excellence in all I do is a guarantee with any project that I work on.
